Armadale Stores is officially marking a major milestone: five years in our new premises! It has been an incredible journey since we opened the doors to this space, and we are so grateful for the community’s continued support in making the shop a vibrant hub for the area. To celebrate this anniversary, we wanted to do something that captures the spirit of our surroundings, so we are thrilled to announce a community-wide photo competition open to all residents of Skye and Lochalsh.
We are looking for entries that answer one simple question: What makes Sleat a special place to live? Whether it’s a rugged coastal landscape, a quiet moment in the garden, or a snapshot of local life, we want to see your unique perspective. The photos must have been taken within that last 5 years.
There are five subject categories, and you can enter up to five images in total. The categories are
- Land and Seascapes
- Heritage (Crofting, Fishing, Local History, and Culture, etc)
- Activities
- People
- Other (for anything that doesn’t fit in the above categories)
For each subject category, there are two Age Groups – Under 16, and 16 and Over.
We are honoured to have award-winning photographer Simon Larson judging the entries along with Tricia Petri-Clark and Duncan MacInnes. There will be winners in all subject categories, plus one Overall winner for each Age Group.
The lucky overall winners in each Age Group will see their vision brought to life, receiving a high-quality canvas print of their winning photograph to keep forever.

Eligibility: Open to amateur photographers of all ages and skill levels!
Rules
- You may submit up to 5 entries per person.
- Entrants must be a resident of the Skye & Lochalsh area.
- The submitted image must be your own, must not include any elements of AI, and taken within the last 5 years.
- Any submitted images may be used on the Sleat Community Trust website and the website promoting Sleat to Visitors at www.sleatperfectlyskye.com, and all associated social media platforms for both (including Armadale Stores).
- Entries must be received by the 11pm on Friday, 27th March.
