Skyenet Community Broadband

Skyenet is a Sleat Community Trust project, working with a number of stakeholders including Community Broadband Scotland, Rural Broadband Networks, Highland Council, two local landowners as well as several common grazings committees and private individuals. 

The service is currently available in Aird, Achnacloich, Tarskavaig, Tokavaig, Ord, Heaste, Drumfearn, Drinan and Glasnakille.

We'll be installing battery backup at most of our mast sites over the next few weeks. Just wiring them up now...
That will mean if you connect direct to a mast, which is the case for the vast majority of customers, that the power at the mast will stay on there in a powercut, so if you have backup power supply at your house, you can stay connected. It will also just make the kit at the masts more reliable, and it will also mean you are not affected by powercuts elsewhere on the network, as those masts will stay on. We already have an automatic failover which would re-route you, with the exception of Aird, but this will keep the primary routes open and traffic running as smoothly as possible.
