Trust Snippets - w/e 17th August

• Angus attended a Community Transport (CT) event in Inverness on Friday. 15 in attendance representing a wide variety of CT project’s along with Graham Philips Hi Council Tec Services Chair. Main points are that the budget for next year will be cut , running a minibus service is laden with bureaucracy and expensive and there are other subsidised taxi systems in existence. New application to the fund to be submitted by 30th August.
• Chris and reps from the environment group took part in a survey of the forest on Thursday.
• Jane and Angus will meet with the new General Manager of Clan Donald, Stephen McKeown on the 5th of September.
• A new Scottish Government rural broadband initiative has been launched. More info can be found here  http://www.communitybroadbandscotland.org/ The Trust will look into how this can help our own community connection issues.
• Mounding has now finished in Tormore forest in preparation for planting at the end of the year. This means that the forest road is now accessible again to the community. Timber haulage will still continue for around another month (until end of September) so forest users should take care when lorries are approaching and stand clear from the road if any vehicle approaches.
• The Trust’s AGM looks like being on Tuesday 30th of October. Likely venue will be Sabhal Mor Ostaig. More info to come on this over the next few weeks.
• The portacabin refurbishment should be under way from the middle of September. Local builder Calum MacEachern will be carrying out the works. Provision will be made for a Lottery terminal which, providing agreement from Camelot, will be installed before the year end.
• Chris will attend a Highland Woodfuel meeting in Kingussie next Wednesday (22nd).
• Geoff Fagan of CADISPA popped into the office for an update on all things Trust.
• Dates are being arranged for Derek Logie of the Rural Housing Service to visit Sleat in November.
