With the support of the Big Lottery and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Sleat Community Trust took over ownership of the Skye Ferry Filling Station on the 3rd December 2007.


It is managed by Sleat Community Trading Co Ltd with Directors Duncan MacInnes, Donald Angie MacLennan, Jane McDermott, Sam Graham and Serena Smart.

Opening Hours
Summer
Monday to Friday 8.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 6.00pm

The Shop
The shop has been refurbished, painted and re-stocked with auto items, maps, books, sweets, snacks and very recently a range of Fair Traid food. Hot tea and coffee and cold drinks are also on sale. The Trust has contributed funds to procure a  de-fibrillator in assocation with the 'Lucky to be Here' Charity based in Skye.

The Post Office
Since 2008 the Post Office has offered the full range of services that Royal Mail offer, as well as Post Office approved stationery. 
Officially company chairman Duncan MacInnes is officially sub Post-Master for the Post Office but Niall undertakes the actual day-to-day-management.
Sleat Trading successfully arranged an increase of opening hours paid for by the Post Office from 6 up to 20 a week. However, the Post Office will actually be open 35 hours a week and longer in the summer.

Visitor Information Services and Internet Cafe
For 2012 any business in Sleat involved in the tourist industry can join Visit Sleat with an entry on the website and all accompanying printed material for £100.00 with includes a sum to help support the Information Services at the Filling Station and also display your information at the Armadale Pier noticeboard. 
Internet access is available for a nominal donation. A Notice Board for local information and forthcoming events can be found on the wall adjacent to the shop entrance.

Garage
The garage has been leased to MacGillivray Motors. If the number of cars regularly parked at the garage is any indication, business is brisk and fully appreciated by the locals. MOT services are being planned for 2012.

Subsidised Taxi Service
Trading o
perates a Highland Council/Sleat Community Trust funded subsdised taxi service for Sleat residents. A current reduction of 50% on the meter fare is offered for trips within Sleat and to onward transport links to Kyle and Broadford. Conditions apply. Taxi's must be booked through Trading at least 24 hours in advance. Call 01471 844773 for further information.
